NOTICE TO PUBLIC
Closure of Optimist Park/Boat Ramp
Temporary Closing
Until the City of Blair receives authorization from FEMA to proceed
with cleanup of the park and ramp areas, in whole or in part, the
plant and park areas are closed to the public. To help in the
enforcement, the City has clearly marked the entrance to Fairview St
at the intersection going down to the plants, that the park and boat
ramp are temporarily closed. The closure may be for a couple weeks
or it could be several months. There will be no Trespassing signs on
the barricades. The City has requested the Police Department help
monitor violators. Only individuals authorized by “management” will
be permitted beyond the barricades. This includes necessary City
personnel and contractors doing authorized work for the City. Marina
Road and Dixon Roads are open to the public. The City has left
enough area by the intersection so that cars can turn around. The
City should know by the end of next week when Blaine St. might
reopen. This is being done for several reasons, but most of all for
public safety because we don’t know the degree of any contamination,
the stability of the sand on the river banks, safety concerns
created by people wondering around the plant area with the hazards
that still exist from all the temporary flood measures, and the
safety of City plant operators working in unsecured facilities.
