Street Department

The Blair Street Department is located at 3rd & Grant in the City Utility Building.  The Street Department is made up of Street Foreman Lowell Kubie, Assistant Street Foreman  Gary Ford and Equipment Operators Robert Bolton, Dan McMurtry and John Otte.  This small crew of five (5) take care of over 130 miles of city streets and we are still growing.

The City Council recently approved the purchase of a new 16 Cubic Yard dump truck with dump body, snow plow, sander and pre-wet system.  This truck will be used primarily for snow plowing on the highways in the city and will be equipped with a 12 foot plow and an additional 12 foot wing plow allowing the Street Department to basically plow two lanes at a time.  This truck will be set up for highway plowing exactly the same way as the trucks at the Nebraska Department of Roads.  Delivery is expected in October 2007 in time for the next winter plowing.   This truck can haul twice as much material as any dump truck the city currently has now so it will be an asset all year long.
