Animal Control

Animal Control enforces City ordinances relating to animals. These ordinances prevent or minimize nuisances caused by improper or irresponsible care of animals. Blair's Animal Control is operated under the Blair Police Department. Brett Gunderson is the city's Animal Control Officer and you can reach him by calling the Blair Police Department at 402-426-4747.

Management

The Jeanette Hunt (Blair) Animal Shelter is currently under the management of the Friends of the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter, effective August 3, 2015. The Friends are a non-profit organization who work tirelessly to promote animal welfare throughout Washington County. 

Services

Services that are currently offered through the shelter and our organization include:

  • Providing care for all dogs and cats who temporarily find themselves residents of the shelter,
  • Limited boarding services for dogs,
  • Discount certificates toward spaying/neutering services
  • Trap, neuter, return services for farm and community cats
